As the Singapore General Election 2006 drew to a close and the final polling results were released, the People's Action Party was returned to power, taking 82 out of the 84 contested seats in parliament. Aljunied GRC, of which Serangoon is part of, won against the Worker's Party, with a 56 to 44 percent margin. Through the lead up to nomination and polling days, many selfless volunteers were all part of the election 'buzz', working tireless hour after hour and day after day to ensure that their supported candidate would emerge victorious.
From taking care of logistics to taking care of hungry activists, from making house to house visits to doing distributions, our activitists have been toiling under harsh enviromental conditions and putting in countless number of hours to ensure that the PAP election campaign machine is kept well oiled and ready to bring the fight to the opposition. They are the backbone with which many election candidates could have not done without.
