PUBLISHED ON 02 Jun 2018
The PAP Seniors Group (PAP.SG) held its Quarterly Gathering on 2 June 2018, with Senior Minister of State for Health and the Environment & Water Resources, Dr Amy Khor sharing some of the healthcare financing options available in Singapore for elderly.

Touching on the CareShield Life, which was recently announced, Dr Khor emphasised that the scheme will help to defray the long-term care costs for those who are severely disabled. Dr Khor also shared with activists that there will be various forms of financial support to help Lower- to middle-income Singaporeans pay for the premiums for CareShield Life.

Speaking to more than 80 PAP.SG activists, Dr Khor also gave an overview of Singapore’s healthcare financing framework which includes government subsidies, MediShield Life, MediSave and MediFund.

She said that while healthcare costs have risen, the Government will ensure that help is always available for those who need it.

Dr Khor highlighted that Singaporeans are eligible for subsidies at public healthcare institutions and polyclinics. She also pointed out that beneficiaries of the Pioneer Generation Package also receive additional subsidies when visiting polyclinics or when receiving treatment at Specialist Outpatient Clinics (SOC) at public hospitals.

Speaker of Parliament and Chairman of PAP.SG Mr Tan Chuan-Jin was also present at the session and encouraged PAP.SG activists to share the useful information amongst their network of friends.
