Introduction
A firm believer of ‘Community above Politics’, Alex Yeo serves the residents of Paya Lebar wholeheartedly. He began his journey as an activist and volunteer in Potong Pasir, before being asked to helm the PAP Paya Lebar Branch under Aljunied GRC.
As a father of two young children, and with elderly parents and in-laws, Alex understands first-hand the challenges facing Singapore’s sandwiched generation. Juggling parental responsibilities with his wife, he is passionate about uplifting families, and focuses on the needs of the vulnerable in their midst: the elderly and the young.
He works tirelessly with his activists and volunteers to fundraise for ground-up initiatives that provide residents with additional support. These programmes have benefited many less privileged families - from offering free nutritious and fresh groceries, to supporting the youths as they pursue their interests and studies.
Alex also pioneered the Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) & Will programme since 2017. As a lawyer, he has provided advice to address the unique needs and concerns of families in his community.
In 2019, Alex led a team of healthcare professionals, social welfare organisations and volunteers to launch the Health & Wellness Programme, championing awareness on preventive healthcare and better health management. Thousands of residents in Paya Lebar have since benefitted from health screenings and vaccination programmes made more accessible through mobile clinics.
Encouraged by the positive response from his residents, Alex continues to explore ways to uplift their quality of life, so that they may coast along confidently into their silver years.
