Electoral boundaries review committee formed
PUBLISHED ON 04 Sep 2019
The Electoral Boundaries Review Committee that reviews Singapore's electoral boundaries and divisions has been formed.

The Election Department, in its statement released today, said the committee has been tasked to further reduce the average size of Group Representation Constituencies (GRCs), and to have more than the current 13 Single Member Constituencies.

ELD said the committee is in the midst of deliberations, and will make its recommendations to the Prime Minister when it has completed its review.

After the committee's report is published, the next stage in the lead-up to the general election, which must be held by April 2021, will be the dissolution of Parliament. The writ of election will be issued subsequently. It will be followed by Nomination Day, which is the start of the campaign period. The Cooling-Off Day will be immediately after the campaign period and it falls on the eve of Polling Day.
