The People’s Action Party (PAP) women branch chairpersons galvanised activists across various PAP branches to give out more than 5,000 soap flowers to mothers as a thank-you gesture to honour their contributions on the special occasion.  

The island-wide activation also involved many new women branch chairpersons. Chairperson of the PAP Women’s Wing Sim Ann said, “The PAP Women’s Wing is delighted to welcome 13 new women branch chairs. It is heartening to see them hit the ground running and join in our Mothers’ Day activation. We look forward to the fresh perspectives and new energy they will bring to our efforts to advance women’s development.” 

Organising Chairperson for the PAP Women’s Wing Mother’s Day celebrations, Rahayu Mahzam, added, “It is important that women are recognised and valued for their roles in and by the community. These gifts of soap flowers are symbolic of our support for mothers and mother figures. I hope these will remind them to self-care, and reflect our ongoing advocacy for women’s well-being. That so many of our activists and branches are coming together to celebrate women, also sends a strong signal that the community is right behind all mothers and we recognise their efforts.”
