
The People’s Action Party has announced the following candidate representing the PAP to stand for election at Bukit Panjang Single Member Constituency (SMC):

Liang Eng Hwa was introduced today at the Pang Sua Pond, where he shared his motivations to step forward and sought the mandate to represent Bukit Panjang residents.

Liang Eng Hwa 连荣华
Liang Eng Hwa has been the MP for Bukit Panjang SMC since 2020.
Prior to that, he was the MP for Holland-Bukit Timah GRC from 2006 to 2020, overseeing the Zhenghua Division (Part of Bukit Panjang Town).
At the local level, Eng Hwa has played an instrumental role in the transformation of Bukit Panjang Town. He has been involved in bringing a number of key infrastructure and amenities to the town, such as hawker centres, a polyclinic, the Senja Link to KJE, and a town cycling network, among others, improving the overall liveability for the residents there.
As MP for Bukit Panjang SMC in the past five years, he has continued to envision new ideas and refresh plans to keep Bukit Panjang vibrant, well-connected, and sustainable; bringing about a better quality of life for all residents.
He managed to secure and complete the Home Improvement Programme (HIP) for almost all eligible flats, and another eight blocks of flats are currently undergoing the Lift Upgrading Programme (LUP).
He also believes in keeping our seniors active, healthy, and well taken care of by building active ageing centres and care facilities so that our seniors can age well and comfortably.
In Parliament, he is a strong voice in areas concerning job creation, helping Singaporeans cope with the cost of living, increasing childcare and healthcare subsidies, public transport improvement, and sustainability.
As Chairman of the Government Parliamentary Committee for Finance, Trade and Industry since 2014, he is also a proponent of prudent fiscal management and the need to keep strengthening our economy to create opportunities and jobs for our people.
Eng Hwa grew up in the Bukit Panjang area and continues to live there.
