
The People’s Action Party has announced the following team representing the PAP to stand for election at Jurong East-Bukit Batok Group Representation Constituency (GRC):
- David Hoe
- Grace Fu
- Lee Hong Chuang
- Murali Pillai
- Rahayu Mahzam
The team and candidate were introduced today at the Jurong-Clementi Town Council, where they shared their motivations to step forward and sought the mandate to represent Jurong East-Bukit Batok residents.
About the team
David Hoe 许德财
Growing up, life wasn’t easy. But through hard work and the countless opportunities graciously given by others, David was able to achieve his dreams. Just as how others have paved the way for him, David hopes to pay it forward – to create and enable access to opportunities, for every Singaporean to realise their own aspirations.
Over the past 15 years, David has founded and led initiatives like I Am Talented, Project Stable Staples, Collaborate, TMentors, and more, to empower individuals to discover their aspirations and achieve their goals. He hopes to journey with every Singaporean – to share in the joys, concerns & everyday moments, and to create meaningful opportunities for each person to thrive and succeed in their own unique way.
Grace Fu 傅海燕
Grace Fu’s journey with Yuhua began in 2006. Known for her dedication and care, Grace has become a steady presence – listening, leading and championing seniors, families, women, jobs, and sustainability – as Member of Parliament for nearly two decades.
Today, she serves as Minister for Sustainability and the Environment and Minister-in-charge of Trade Relations, leading efforts for a greener, more resilient Singapore, both at home and on the global stage, and shaping strategies that enhance Singapore’s trade relationships.
Over the years, she has held key roles across several ministries, including the Foreign Affairs Ministry. In 2015, Grace broke new ground as Singapore’s first woman to helm a full ministry, as Minister for Culture, Community and Youth.
A proud mother of three, Grace stays active through running, yoga, and hiking.
Lee Hong Chuang 李宏壮
Lee Hong Chuang is a dedicated advocate for community wellbeing, supports individuals of all ages, and believes in strengthening family bonds and assisting the vulnerable.
With over 30 years of volunteering experience and being a community leader, he sees the vital role of robust community support to help residents navigate challenges while ensuring collective wellbeing.
Throughout the years, Hong Chuang has been passionate in serving the needs of a diverse community, and fostering an inclusive environment where everyone is valued.
Having worked in several MNCs in professional and corporate social responsibility leadership roles, he has initiated volunteerism among colleagues and mobilised resources to support the social sector.
In his grassroots capacity, he is a resourceful problem-solver who is proactive in tackling challenges faced by the community and improving the lives of his residents.
As the saying goes, “If you want to go fast, run alone. But if you want to go far, run together.” Hong Chuang firmly believes in working closely with community partners and professionals, giving his best with care and compassion to go far together.
Hong Chuang obtained his Bachelor in Computer Science from NUS and is currently working in an IT MNC.
Murali Pillai 穆仁理
Murali Pillai started volunteering in Bukit Batok 25 years ago. He was elected MP in 2016.
As MP, he strengthened its support network. He brought in partners to provide services such as free TCM, food bank and expanded eldercare facilities. He led the creation of a volunteer corp of residents wanting to contribute towards the causes they are passionate about such as youths-at-risk and the environment. In Parliament, he succeeded in getting the Government to implement several policy suggestions. This included rental support for couples waiting for BTO flats, concessionary migrant-worker levies for families with mentally challenged members and wage subsidies for ex-offenders. In July 2024, he became the Minister of State for Law and Transport.
Murali is married to a teacher. They have four children.
Rahayu Mahzam 拉哈尤
As representative of Bukit Batok East, Rahayu Mahzam has been committed to translating policies into actual help for residents, especially seniors, youth, women and low-income families. Testament to this commitment are initiatives like Belanja-a-Meal, youth mentoring programmes, and empowerment workshops for women.
Since being appointed into Office, Rahayu has made an impact in advancing digital inclusivity and protecting Singaporeans against online harms. In her health portfolio, she promotes healthy lifestyle and child and maternal health.
Rahayu also champions for the special needs community and multiracial harmony. She cares deeply about building an inclusive and compassionate society.
