Sun Xueling – Fresh Start

There are women and children in our midst who may need help having a fresh start in their lives after encountering family violence and abuse. And that includes having a new home to start life anew, away from perpetrators of violence and back to school and work.

The Punggol West Fresh Start Programme which has been ongoing yearly for the past 3 years involves activists working with the various crisis shelters in Singapore - Casa Raudha Home for Women, Star Shelter, Anglican Family Center and Good Shepherd Centre to support the women and children there. Initiatives include crowdsourcing donations of household items such as refrigerators, washing machines, beds, fans or purchasing smaller items such as groceries to help fit out rental units for the women and children when they are mentally and physically prepared to move out on their own. In 2021, Punggol West activists fitted out 8 rental units for Casa Raudha Home and also provided transport cards pre-loaded with cash for 50 families so that they could use for both employment or schooling needs.

In PAP Women's Wing, we contribute our part to building a safe and assuring home for all, making a positive impact on the lives of women and children in need.
