Gan Siow Huang – Marymount Weekly Food Rescue

I believe that we can all do our part to live sustainably and steward resources to provide care for others in the community. By reducing food waste and providing food to residents, the Marymount Weekly Food Rescue Project is making a positive impact on the community.

The project, which began in August 2021, is a collaborative effort between the Marymount PAP Branch, Food Rescue Sengkang, and the Union for Security Employees. Volunteers from these organisations work together to collect and sort ugly but safe-to-eat food and distribute it to residents in the area. On average, the project saves about 100kg of food every week, contributing to the larger goal of reducing food waste. All residents in the neighbourhood are welcome to participate in the project by rescuing ugly food items and bringing them home to eat.

In PAP Women's Wing, we demonstrate the power of community action in making a difference by creating a more sustainable and caring community.
