Serving the community is about unwavering commitment and hard work. We must build and re-build the trust and relationship with our residents. We can only do so with our actions and by listening intently to our residents, empathising and working hard. I am very proud of all the ground up, community-led initiatives that we have implemented in Paya Lebar. These are the fruits of labour of our team of committed volunteers and activists at Paya Lebar over many years.
"I thrive in crises, setbacks and stressful situations. Now more than ever, I want to be part of the team that helps navigate Singapore out of this defining crisis of our generation."

I would like to see Singapore create more opportunities for greater social mobility, especially those who are from less privileged backgrounds. They too should have fair opportunities to fulfill their dreams and aspirations of a brighter future ahead.

"My life ethos is ‘Never forget to serve the last, the lost and the least’. To be an MP is about serving the people, understanding their aspirations and needs, and not forgetting the vulnerable who may not have the courage to come forward and seek the necessary help."

I hope to continue to champion legal education within the community, through running of legal clinics and frequent law awareness talks, empowering residents to have better knowledge of their legal rights and the avenues where they can seek help when they are in need.

We must always do our best, give full heart and effort to serve the community, and embrace diversity and progress as one people.
"My belief has always been, and it will always be, that it’s all about the people. My education has given me everything in life, so I would really like to give back. To be given the opportunity to try and help a lot of people would be the biggest honor I could possibly imagine."
Managing Director and Partner, Boston Consulting Group
From starting life in a one-room rental flat, I have benefited so much from my family, my community and Singapore system. I have had the opportunity to study, work and live in the US and the region. I would really like to now give back at home, to my community, to society. I would like to use my skills to serve, and to create opportunities for our people, just as opportunities were created for me.
"All of us is leader within our own sphere. Continue to lead by example and walk the talk. Most importantly, stay true to your intent and purpose when making a difference to others."

Director, NTUC Administration and Research Unit
Through my community involvement with M3@Bedok, I realise that there is a sizeable amount of elderly who are staying alone. There are mobility issues, spiritual needs issues and more importantly, the support structure to overcome loneliness.
"I care about Singapore’s future, and our place in the world. I am keenly aware of the responsibility of my generation to ensure a sustainable and prosperous Singapore where Singaporeans of all ages can thrive. Singapore must always be a country where opportunities can be accessed by all. To me, it is about speaking up for those who may not have the opportunity to do so and being part of the future I hope to see."
Associate Director at TSMP Law Corporation
What means a lot to me is being a safe space for those who may not have many other options to turn to. I have worked with elderly who have no family to call, and young women in difficult circumstances – teenage mums, girls who have both parents in prison. Being able to gain their trust, that they will call me before things get really bad, I am grateful.
"It is important for us to take courage to do the things that we care about, for the people we care about, despite challenges, setbacks and sacrifices."

Former Public Servant
As Singaporeans, we must continue to thrive and be hopeful; punch above our weight as a small nation, stand firm on the shoulders of pioneers who have laid strong foundations, and write another chapter of an exceptional nation despite all odds.
"Do not be too bothered at all by the stereotypes, by numbers or by what people tell you to do. Follow your heart and be driven by your values."
Vice President, Terminal 5 Planning, Changi East Development, Changi Airport Group
In ten years’ time, Singapore will be entering into a very different phase where one-quarter of our population will be 65 and above. Everyone needs to do his or her part to prepare for this new reality. Keeping ourselves fit and eating healthily is what we can do so that we may all live well into old age.
For families who have difficulty affording fresh and healthy food, we can lend a helping hand. I started with fellow activists in Sembawang Branch a rescued fruits and vegetables distribution project on a monthly basis to our rental flats residents to encourage them to eat healthily. After six months, we have gotten to know the residents well and have assisted some with other difficulties. I hope to scale up this “Colourful Food, Vibrant Lives” project so that even more residents can benefit and live healthily.
"I am grateful that I get to do things that energise me, together with different teams of people I love, for the people we serve."

I personally do not take the peace and harmony that we have in Singapore for granted. The systems that we have work – whether in healthcare or even transport, these are all good foundations that we must build upon together, to face the challenges that may come our way.
"All of us are on this ship together. We need to be united in heart and mind and pull together to work hard for our future and the generations of Singaporeans that will come after us."

Life is about tenacity and resilience. Whenever doors close, you shouldn’t bemoan that’s the be-all and end-all. Many other doors will be available for you to open and step out. The result is that there is usually something else out there much better for you.
"I always hope for the best possible future for my young children and ageing parents. This means quality education and healthcare. I also draw motivation from the people I often meet. These may be my students or residents or fellow volunteers. Each of them has a unique background, transforming adversity to success."

I strongly believe that education is a key component to social mobility. Thus, it is imperative that we continue to provide quality education with multiple pathways to achieve success.

I believe in working through partnerships to improve lives and create a better home for Singaporeans. I believe in the role of a Member of Parliament to bring together like-minded partners to serve and benefit the local community. I believe this is how politics in Singapore must continue to be – a thriving democracy of deeds.

I will contribute to the best of my abilities to serve Singapore. I will work together with residents and the community to make a Singapore that my children and one day, their children would be proud of – a home of opportunities.
