The Electoral Boundaries Review Committee for the next General Election has not been appointed and voters can expect new initiatives in the next General Elections, said Minister for Trade and Industry Chan Chun Sing, on behalf of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, in a written response to a Parliamentary Question.

He also said the Elections Department is working with students from Singapore Institute of Technology to introduce low-cost and environmental-friendly polling booths. Other initiatives include e-registration for voters, self-inking pens which will allow voters to mark their choice clearly, without ambiguity and portable booths for wheelchair-bound voters.

Mr Chan also said the ELD will showcase these initiatives to representatives of political parties and conduct roadshows to familiarise voters with the new equipment.
