The Adapt and Grow initiative has helped about 30,000 job seeking Singaporeans affected by the economic slowdown and restructuring.

At his recent visit to the Workforce Singapore Careers Connect centre located at the Lifelong Learning Institute, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said that Singaporeans can be confident that the Government will help them cope with changes as the economy restructures.

“We have the resources, the plans and the resolve. We will help everybody to get through difficulties. We will help you, walk together with you to overcome these troubles,” said Mr Lee.

Even as Singapore’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew 3.6 percent in 2018, PM Lee had cautioned of uncertainties in the global economy, in his New Year’s message. He added that it would be a long journey for Singapore’s economic restructring to push productivity and create better jobs.

PM Lee reiterated that the way forward is for Singaporeans to be more productive, do better jobs and earn better pay.
