Budget 2019 will focus on increasing productivity by training and uptraining workers, and improving workplace capabilities and embracing tech to stay competitive.

Minister for Finance Mr Heng Swee Keat who will be making his budget statement on 18 February 2019 said that as jobs are redesigned, workers will need help to learn new skills to enable companies to be more competitive and workers more productive.

Mr Heng also emphasised the need for businesses and workers to embrace technology which would also help them seize growing opportunities in the region.

He added that key measures on social policy like the Merdeka Generation Package will also presented in his Budget presentation. “It is a major event, and I hope we reflect on the past so that we can plan for a better future,” he said.
