CHAS (Community Health Assist Scheme) subsidies will be available to all Singaporeans suffering from diabetes, hypertension or other chronic illness from 1 November 2019.

Senior Minister of State for Health, Mr Edwin Tong announced that the new Chas Green tier will be for households with a monthly per capita income of above $1,800 or a home with an annual value of more than $21,000.

Up to $160 worth of subsidies will be available, depending on the complexities of the chronic illness.

Subsidies for the current Chas Orange will be raised from $300 to $320 and Chas Blue card holders will be raised from $480 to $500.

Meanwhile, the Ministry is working to simplify the CHAS application process, to encourage more Singaporeans to sign up.

It was also announced that these enhancements to the CHAS scheme will cost the Government more than $200 million in a year.
