The People’s Action Party has announced the following candidate representing the PAP to stand for election at Tampines Changkat Single Member Constituency (SMC):

Desmond Choo was introduced today at the at the multi-purpose hall at Blk 640 Tampines Street 62, where he shared his motivations to step forward and sought the mandate to represent Tampines Changkat residents.

Desmond Choo is the Member of Parliament for Tampines Changkat and serves as the Mayor of North East District, overseeing community and social development across 21 constituencies. He is also the Assistant Secretary-General of the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC), where he leads economic and social policy, strategic communications, and international relations. Desmond has championed fair wages, job creation, and upskilling through career support initiatives. He also led the creation of Nexus, an internship platform in the north east district to give youth early exposure to the working world. 

Desmond began serving residents of Tampines in 2015. His work is guided by one belief—that every resident, regardless of age or background, deserves dignity, opportunity, and a voice in shaping their community. In Tampines Changkat, Desmond believes in hands-on, people-first leadership. He helped introduce Silver Zones for safer roads, redesigned transport routes for seniors, and supported young families through programmes like Sunrise Smiles and community fridges.  

In Parliament, he has advocated for gig workers, working mothers, and seniors—pushing for stronger support systems and inclusive policies.
