"My goal is to make each day count by making my residents' lives better."
Introduction
Saktiandi Supaat is the Member of Parliament (MP) of the Toa Payoh East constituency and has served as MP since 2015.
In Toa Payoh East, Saktiandi works closely with his team of dedicated community volunteers and partners to better the lives and livelihoods of his residents and to build a strong neighbourhood. Amid COVID-19 and recent challenging economic conditions, he has rolled out programmes aimed at improving his residents’ financial literacy, employment opportunities and ability to meet their daily needs.
Saktiandi’s wide-ranging outlook to uplifting Singaporeans stems from his volunteering history. After starting out his voluntary community work at the youth wing of the Association of Muslim Professionals, he has gone on to serve with various organisations including the Tripartite Alliance for Fair and Progressive Employment Practices (TAFEP), Education Services Union, Central Singapore CDC and CPF Advisory Panel.
An economist by training, Saktiandi spent more than 10 years at the Monetary Authority of Singapore covering Singapore’s financial strategy and policies before moving to the private sector. He holds a Masters in Applied Economics from the National University of Singapore and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Cambridge.
In Parliament, Saktiandi speaks about the economic and socio-economic issues affecting Singapore and Singaporeans. In addition, he is also active in advocating on transport issues in his capacity as Chairperson of the Government Parliamentary Committee on Transport, as well as other key issues he has raised such as fair employment practices legislation, Singapore’s green transition, etc.
Saktiandi is excited about what the future holds for Singapore in this fast-changing world - he believes the key to success lies in a never-ending curiosity and adaptiveness. As our society forges ahead, Saktiandi is committed to supporting our small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and bettering the lives of Singaporeans, regardless of race or religion.
