Foreword

Ms Sim Ann, PAP Women’s Wing Chairperson

Since its beginning, the People’s Action Party has worked with Singaporeans to make Singapore a better home for all.

The Women’s Wing, in particular, rallies and involves Singaporean women in the development of our country, because we believe that every Singapore woman has a voice and role to play in shaping the future of our society. What we bring to the table allows for more inclusive and superior outcomes for the community.

In Singapore, the role of women has evolved. Today, we are empowered to pursue our passions and live our lives to our fullest potential.

It is my honour to take on the role of WW Chair, and to continue rallying our women activists to make a difference for Singapore now and in the future.

We rededicate ourselves to this goal each International Women’s Day.

This digital collection is a celebration of our women in action. I am proud to witness the efforts and impact of fellow WW members.

We can make great things happen when we stand united and set our hearts to it. May others be inspired to stand with us to take action.

In this digital collection of projects by our Women Branch Chairs, we see how our women activists are working with partners on the ground to drive change and improve lives.

Whether it be crowdsourcing for household items to furnish new rental flats for women and children living in crisis shelters, providing electric breast pumps to help new mothers, equipping women and mothers with skills to return to the workplace or undertaking food rescue and or collecting pre-owned items to promote sustainability, these and many other projects demonstrate how each and every one of us can play a role in Forward SG.

We are going into a new era of volatility, geopolitical uncertainty, economic restructuring and technological change, which will impact lives and livelihoods. In such times, we have to consider how we should organize ourselves, where we focus our energies and how we take care of one another so that no one is left behind.

Forward SG is a review and reimagining of our social compact and Forward SG – Women in Action is the PAP Women Wing’s dedication to putting words and deeds into action.

We hope you will join us in this endeavour and continue to look out for one another.
