Jessica Tan is committed to creating equal opportunities for all and enabling each individual to be the best that they can be.

In East Coast GRC and her constituency of Changi Simei, she strives to build a caring, green and vibrant community and create opportunities for her residents. For example, to nurture young women in the STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) fields, especially those from modest backgrounds, East Coast GRC gives out about $250,000 in bursaries to students every year.

Jessica also spearheads programmes on lifelong learning, helping the less well-off, and sustainability among others, and ensures that the amenities for Changi Simei residents improve steadily. A firm believer in building partnerships with residents, she works hard to provide platforms and opportunities for Changi Simei residents to co-create meaningful solutions that encourage bonding and uplift the community spirit.

Jessica plays an active role in the PAP Senior Group’s research and engagement on senior employability and has been championing equal opportunities for mature workers in Parliament for many years.

Growing up in a Peranakan family has ingrained in Jessica the values of filial piety, empathy and respect, and a drive to positively impact the lives of others around her. Volunteers and residents in Changi Simei describe her as sincere, empathetic and determined to find solutions when residents come to her with their issues.

Professionally, she has over three decades of experience in leadership roles, driving strategies and partnerships in private sectors including information technology and healthcare. A Member of Parliament since 2006, she has also been the Deputy Speaker of Parliament since 2020.
