Introduction
Growing up, Hon Weng always wanted to help fellow Singaporeans. Starting his career as a teacher and later as a civil servant in the Administrative Service, he took pride in how he could improve the lives of others.
Throughout his years in multiple government agencies, including establishing the Municipal Services Office to improve coordination of infrastructure and services across Singapore, he placed emphasis on walking the ground to understand the impact of policies.
His most memorable experience was helping seniors at the Silver Generation Office, through active outreach to explain to them the policies they could benefit from; and when he set up the Ageing Planning Office in MOH to develop the nation’s strategies dealing with an ageing population.
Hon Weng now brings these experiences to his service for Yio Chu Kang. He spends much of his time getting to know his residents better by listening to their feedback, concerns and aspirations, and working out solutions which benefit the community. Working in partnership with private and government agencies, he aspires to make Yio Chu Kang a better home for his residents.
Hon Weng counts it a great privilege to serve in his capacity as MP, helping to enrich the daily lives of many and doing his best to solve the problems residents face. Representing a constituency with a high proportion of seniors, he is determined to champion the needs and concerns of senior Singaporeans so they too can enjoy the Singapore which they've had a hand in shaping and building.
