Introduction
In his maiden speech in Parliament, Derrick Goh spoke about the importance of good implementation by the government so that citizens can benefit from good policies.
This belief guides his work as MP for Nee Soon Link. Derrick is passionate about playing the role of listener and communicator, channeling ground feedback from residents to government, agencies and at Parliament to bring about improvements in the community and helping residents understand policies better.
In Parliament, Derrick speaks up frequently on topics ranging from online scams, traffic congestion, secondhand smoke and shortage of kindergarten and primary school places, to supporting local businesses. He is also a member of the Government Parliamentary Committees for Finance, Trade and Industry, Law and Home Affairs.
Derrick continually strives to make Nee Soon Link a better home for residents. With his focus on getting things done, residents now enjoy a new bus service with 4 new stops at the new BTO area; 37 HDB blocks are undergoing Home Improvement Programme; and three new Residents’ Network and a Merchants’ Association were started to better support and engage residents. He is also putting in place plans to develop a new Community Club and refresh the N4 mall.
Uplifting families and ensuring adequate support for the vulnerable is a cause close to his heart. In partnership with local VWOs, Derrick has introduced learning and development programmes for the children in Nee Soon Link. He continues to work on various initiatives to help disadvantaged families tackle challenges around inequality of opportunities.
As the new Chair of Nee Soon Town Council, Derrick strives to promote stronger governance, sharpen cost effectiveness of the managing agent, improve accountability and drive a smoother process when tackling ground issues. He is looking forward to bringing more improvements to the GRC in the years to come.
