Introduction
Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim started out volunteering with the PAP as a young activist, where he actively supported programmes that build social safety nets not just for vulnerable families, but also for families going through a challenging period in their lives.
As a father of two, Faishal believes that family plays an important role in the construction of Singapore’s social fabric, and how an appreciation of Singapore’s multiculturalism is one of its cornerstones. With this belief, he has played pivotal roles in shaping policy initiatives, including promoting strong marriages, early childhood education, positive parenthood, and inclusive preschools. Faishal now oversees programmes supporting the rehabilitation and reintegration of offenders and ex-offenders and DrugFreeSG.
Since entering politics in 2006, Faishal has held portfolios across the Ministries of Health, Transport, Education, and Social and Family Development. He currently serves as Minister of State for Home Affairs and National Development, as well as Member of Parliament for Nee Soon GRC.
Within his constituency, Faishal actively supports and engages residents through initiatives aimed at uplifting vulnerable families and promoting cultural heritage. He also conceived the idea of having a community club located in a mall – a first for Singapore – and has pushed for enhanced connectivity and convenience for his Nee Soon residents. Nee Soon Central CC also pilots Singapore's first ServiceSG centre, bringing together over 200 government services for residents.
