Joan Pereira – Henderson-Dawson Pantry Exchange Project

Women's voices and perspectives are essential to foster a sustainable way of life. I champion sustainability with our innovative branch initiative - Henderson-Dawson Pantry Exchange.

Residents living in the Henderson-Dawson constituency, especially the less fortunate and the elderly regularly receive rations or donated items from various welfare groups or charities active in the area. Our Branch found out through our regular engagement with residents that many times, they receive items that they do not find useful, or have a surplus of. Instead of throwing away these items, we encourage our residents to contribute them to the Pantry Exchange. This is where they can exchange them for other items that would be more useful to them.

In PAP Women's Wing, we play our roles as stewards of our shared resources. Henderson-Dawson Pantry Exchange is our way to reduce wastage of valuable resources, and encourage sustainable lifestyle practices in our community.
