Theodora Lai – PCF Sparkletots @ Sengkang North x Food Bank Singapore Bank Boxes Project

PCF Sparkletots @ Sengkang North is proud to collaborate with The Food Bank Singapore in a newly launched pilot programme by adopting Food Bank Boxes allotted on our preschool premises. Our preschools will be adopting the Bank Boxes for a period of one (1) year and is open to Sparkletots children, families and the public for donation of food. This is the first time that Food Bank boxes will be located in PCF preschools, which are close to residents' homes for ease of drop off.

Our partner, The Food Bank Singapore, collects donated and excess food in Singapore for re-distribution to the underprivileged in society. On top of being able to contribute back to the community meaningfully, the main aim of this collaboration is to increase awareness in the community about sustainable living. This collaboration is also intended to equip our children with knowledge of how to minimise food waste.

The project was officially launched on 18 February 2023, at PCF Sparkletots @ Sengkang North Blk 292B. The launch event featured an educational talk and activities for children to learn about minimising food waste. Types of food we collect include non-perishable food items like staples, beverages, condiments, snacks, canned food and dried/preserved foods.
