The People’s Action Party (PAP) Women’s Wing (WW) and Young PAP (YP) embarked on a four-day joint study visit to Beijing, China to meet with the Communist Party of China (CPC).
The 24-member WW-YP delegation is co-led by YP Chairman Dr Janil Puthucheary and PAP Women’s Wing Chairwoman Sim Ann. The visit follows Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s visit to China in March 2023 during which he met President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping. Both leaders, who are also the heads of their respective political parties, agreed to further party-to-party exchanges between the PAP and the CPC.
The delegation will be hosted by the CPC International Department, and will be meeting with the Communist Youth League (CYL) and the All-China Women’s Federation (ACWF).
The delegation will visit the Central Party School, and CPC’s publicity and international departments. During the trip, the delegation will also visit Si Du He Village and meet CPC cadres to understand efforts in rural development.
Ms Sim said, “This visit is part of the PAP’s ongoing efforts to maintain and strengthen relations with overseas political parties. We value the opportunity to understand first-hand the different contexts under which political parties operate, and how they serve their public.”
Dr Puthucheary added, “The PAP has had regular exchanges with the Communist Party of China over the years, and we look forward to updating our knowledge of the CPC and their priorities, and enhancing our friendship.”
The delegation includes PAP Members of Parliament Tin Pei Ling and Yeo Wan Ling, Branch Chairwomen Chan Hui Yuh and Theodora Lai, as well as members of the executive committee of WW and YP.
